To protect the pigeon pea crop, spray it by preparing a solution of neem leaves: Dr. Kishore | News India

Kanpur, 02 September (HS). To protect the pigeon pea crop from caterpillars, spray biochemicals. This will increase the yield and farmers will get more profit at less cost. This information was given on Monday by Dr Jagdish Kishore, crop protection scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra located at Thariyanv of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.

He said that for managing the caterpillar insect infesting the pigeon pea crop, farmers are advised to use biochemicals so that the use of chemical pesticides in farming can be reduced and human life can be protected.

Doctor Kishore gave information regarding management of caterpillar insect to woman farmer Ranjana Rajput and progressive farmer Shivkumar who had come to visit the pigeon pea crop at the centre after visiting the pigeon pea crop grown at the project site.

He told the farmers that the caterpillar pest can be controlled by spraying biochemicals such as 5 ml of neem oil dissolved in one liter of water or 50 ml of ground neem leaves dissolved in one liter of water on the pigeon pea crop. He also advised spraying 100 grams of Emamectin Benzoate 5 percent SG per acre for chemical control.
