Mumbai: To protect the Constitution, the current 50 percent cap on reservation needs to be removed. Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi today said in Maharashtra's Kolhapur that no power in the world will be able to stop the caste-based census and the India block will pass a law in Parliament to remove the 50 per cent limit.
While delivering the speech with a copy of the Constitution in his hand, Rahul said that there is no point in bowing before Shivaji Maharaj by scaring people and destroying the Constitution and constitutional institutions. Addressing the Vidhan Samman Sammelan in Kolhapur, Rahul Gandhi said that India Block will bring a law for caste-based census. We will bring a law to remove the limit of 50% reservation in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, no power in the world can stop us. , Rashtriya Seva Sangh (RSS), BJP or even Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot stop us, he said. We need accurate data. How many Dalits, OBCs? (Other Backward Classes) are tribals, women, minorities and general caste people. We are trying to protect the Constitution by demanding caste-wise census, he said.
Caste census will identify each community. Second, how much control do they have over India's financial system? Will come to know. Rahul Gandhi further said that the doors of opportunities are being closed for 90 percent of the country's population. He claimed that the new top IAS officers decide India's budget and 50 percent of India's population is OBC. But out of 90 officers, only three are OBC. Is
Whereas the share of Dalits and tribals is 15 percent and eight percent respectively. But there are only three and one officers from these communities respectively, the Congress leader said. The history of Dalits or backward people is not taught in schools. He alleged that now efforts are being made to erase that history.
He said that caste based census is like finding fault. But RSS and BJP oppose it because they are worried about the truth coming out.
He said that public enterprises are being privatized. He said that 90 percent people are not getting other benefits including pension, so schemes like Agniveer are being brought.
Earlier, while unveiling a statue of Shivaji Maharaj, he said that the statue of Shivaji Maharaj was broken in Sindhudurg because the intentions and thinking of the people in power are not good. There is no point in bowing before Shivaji by scaring the people and destroying the Constitution.
He apparently took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's apology over the fall of Shivaji's statue. Rahul said that Shivaji Maharaj also believed in the ideology of equality and unity. But, another ideology of destroying the Constitution is also prevalent in the country. They wake up every morning and plan how to destroy the Constitution. Rahul said, if you are bowing before Shivaji then you should protect the Constitution. During Rahul's event, BJP workers protested and waved black placards against his earlier statements on Veer Savarkar.
