Kanpur, 02 October (Hindus). To meet the socio-economic and environmental needs of the country and the state, one-third of the land area should be covered with forests. But due to the needs for food security and nutrition as well as industrial development, 20 to 22 percent of forest land came into use, creating an adverse situation for the environment. This was said by Professor Kaushal Kumar of Forestry Faculty of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on the occasion of Forestry New Year on Wednesday.
He said that to maintain the balance of the environment, planting of perennial tree species under agro-forestry is very important. Therefore, along with forest plantation, emphasis was laid on forest protection.
On this occasion, the special guest, former department head Dr. HP Choudhary, explained in detail the importance of forest conservation and environmental balance. Dean, Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Munish Kumar highlighted the comprehensive vision of Forestry New Year 2024 by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Program coordinator Dr. Sarvesh Kumar compared trees and plants with Lord Vishnu while explaining their religious importance. And said that it follows from us that conservation of trees is essential for life on earth.
On this occasion, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Dr. Dharmendra Shah, Dr. Vikas Singh and students presented their views underlining the importance of trees.
