New Delhi, September 19 (HS). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that the Modi government is giving new impetus to the rural economy through cooperation. Shah was addressing the national level conference organized at the ICAR Convention Center in Pusa, New Delhi after inaugurating a series of transformative initiatives taken by the Ministry of Cooperation in 100 days.
During the main session of the conference, Amit Shah launched the “100 days initiative” of the ministry under the theme “Sahkar se Samriddhi”. He also launched 2 lakh new MPACS in hitherto uncovered villages and panchayats, formation and strengthening of primary dairy and fisheries cooperatives, standard operating procedure on White Revolution 2.0 and a ‘guide’ on cooperation among cooperatives.
Addressing a national conference on the work done in the cooperative sector in the first 100 days of the third term of the Modi government, Union Minister Amit Shah said that due to the government's negligence in 70 years, the cooperative movement in this country was becoming irrelevant. Keeping in mind the changes taking place in the administration, economy and other sectors, the changes that were necessary in this sector were not made. When this ministry was formed, its objective was to revive the cooperative sector in all villages and districts.
He said that three new initiatives have been launched simultaneously. Shah assured that PACs will not be closed now. White Revolution 2.0 will become a medium of women empowerment. It will also provide employment to women.
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh said that White Revolution 2.0 will not only increase the income of farmers but will also play an important role in women empowerment. He said that people associated with fisheries and animal husbandry are not able to take advantage of government schemes due to being in the unorganized sector. In view of this, the government has launched White Revolution 2.0 today. Singh said that India ranks first in the world in milk production today. This has been possible due to the doubling increase after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014.
