Kishanganj, 09 July (HS). Sadar police has arrested three liquor smugglers with 61.720 liters of foreign liquor from Majhiya Road. This action was taken on Tuesday, in which 50.120 liters of liquor and 10.500 liters of canned beer were seized. Three youths were arrested with the seized liquor. The arrested accused Mohd. Salim, Mohd. Kamal are residents of Kathal Bari Gwalpokhar and Manjur Alam Kathal Bari Gwalpokhar North Dinajpur. The liquor was being brought in an e-rickshaw. The e-rickshaw has also been seized.
The police of Sadar police station had received secret information about liquor being transported via Kishanganj. As soon as the information was received, the Sadar police became alert. A team under the leadership of Sadar SHO Sandeep Kumar was stationed at Khagra and Majhiya Road. Assistant Sub Inspector Jairam Prasad was included in the team. Just then an e-rickshaw was passing through Majhiya Road. When the police stopped the e-rickshaw, the driver of the e-rickshaw tried to deceive the police by saying that he was carrying ten passengers from Bengal. Then the police got suspicious. After this, when the e-rickshaw was searched, the three people riding the e-rickshaw were arrested as soon as liquor was recovered from it.
The confiscated liquor was being brought from Bengal. It was being taken to Dakupada through the inner route via Majhiya Road. The liquor was to be delivered to someone near Kochadhaman. The liquor delivery guys were so clever that to escape the clutches of the police, two young men were made passengers and seated in the e-rickshaw. So that the police would think that passengers are being taken in the e-rickshaw.
