Ranchi, September 11 (HS). The court of Additional Justice Commissioner Yogesh Kumar Singh on Wednesday convicted the deceased's cousin-in-law Amar Singh, cousin Vansh Narayan Singh and his son Randhir Singh, who were facing trial in the murder case of Thakur Jaswant Singh, son of HEC labor leader late Rana Sangram Singh, while the court acquitted an accused Om Prakash alias Guddu due to lack of sufficient evidence.
The convicted father and son were on bail while Amar Singh has been in jail since the incident. After being found guilty, Vansh Narayan Singh and Randhir Singh have been taken into judicial custody and sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail Hotwar. The date for hearing on the point of punishment of the three has been fixed for September 21.
Amar Singh is currently lodged in Ramgarh jail. During the judgment, he was presented in the court through video conferencing. The court had fixed the date of judgment as 11 September after the arguments of both the sides were completed on 28 August. APP Siddharth Singh had argued on behalf of the prosecution in the case. Also, advocates Rohit Ranjan Prasad and Deepak Kumar had argued on behalf of the informant. An outside lawyer had argued on behalf of the defense.
This verdict has come nine years after the incident. However, Rana Sangram Singh died before his son's murderer could be sentenced. During the verdict, many members of the deceased's family were present in the court room. Ramesh, the driver of one of the accused Amar Singh, is absconding. The incident took place on October 9, 2015 at 8 am near Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk in Dhurva police station area. Thakur Yashwant Singh was shot dead. Jaswant's brother Rana Pratap Singh was injured by attacking him with a stick on the head. The reason behind the murder was a dispute over land and driving a bus. Case number 262/2016 was registered in Dhurva police station regarding the incident.
