Araria, May 24 (HS). Araria district police arrested three cyber criminals who were carrying out cyber crimes internationally between India and Nepal. This arrest was made from Tikulia Basti Ward No. 4 of Jogbani police station area of India Nepal border area. Of the three cyber criminals arrested, one is an Indian and two are Nepali citizens.
Police recovered from them 50 thousand 300 Indian currency, 8 thousand 500 Nepali currency, two iPhone mobile phones, two laptops, 59 activated SIM cards and 55 unactivated SIM cards. The cyber criminals caught by the police used to commit crimes like satta bazaar, online fraud along with various dimensions of cyber crime.
SP Amit Ranjan told journalists on Friday that the three cyber criminals who were caught used to commit cyber crime on international level. These people mainly used to lure people into betting.
SP said that by taking retina photos and manipulating Aadhar cards, many mobile SIM cards were activated in the name of a single person and used for cyber fraud in Nepal. The target of these cyber criminals is 2 thousand SIM cards per month. 114 SIM cards were recovered during the raid.
The SP said that information was being received continuously about cyber crime being committed in the Indo-Nepal border area, for which a team was formed under the leadership of Forbesganj SDPO Mukesh Kumar Saha along with Jogbani SHO Rajiv Kumar Azad, SI Anju Kumari, DIU team and Armed Police Force team.
The team raided the house of 28-year-old Mohammed Shami Ansari alias Vicky, s/o Sama Ansari, in Ward No. 4, Tikulia Basti, Indiranagar, Jogbani and arrested him. Also, 27-year-old Susan Vaskota, s/o Surendra Vaskota, resident of Ward No. 3, Kanchanwadi, Viratnagar, Morang District, Nepal and 41-year-old Himal Kumar Rai, s/o Bhaktveer Rai alias Amar Bahadur Rai, resident of Ward No. 4, Chowkidara, Bhojpur District, Nepal were arrested. In this regard, a case has been registered at Jogbani Police Station and further action is being taken.
