The Delhi-Howrah railway line was affected after three coaches of a goods train derailed in Sangam city Prayagraj on Wednesday. Many trains have been affected due to the derailment of goods coaches and they have been stopped at nearby stations. Railway teams are trying to bring the derailed goods train coaches back on track. It is expected that in the next few hours, the movement of trains on the Delhi-Howrah route will start as before.
Actually, the accident happened near Prayagraj Junction station in Jansenganj area of the city. While proceeding from the junction, three coaches of the goods train derailed. The goods train which was the victim of the accident was going from Kanpur to Mughalsarai. All the coaches of the goods train were empty and no goods were loaded in them. At around 3:15 in the afternoon, bogies number 17, 18 and 19 of the goods train derailed. It is a matter of relief that there was no loss of life in this accident. The up and down trains of Delhi Howrah route were on the same track. Down Both lines have been affected. Passenger trains had to be stopped at many places. However, some major trains including Vande Bharat are running on time.
Employees of engineering, operations and other departments of the railway are present on the spot. The front part of the train has been separated and efforts are being made to bring the derailed coaches back on track. RPF has also been deployed on the spot. According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, CPRO of North Central Railway Zone, efforts are being made to restore the route soon and run trains normally. Passenger trains affected by the accident have been stopped at those places where passengers do not face any kind of trouble and they can get the necessary items.
