Three bookies arrested from Kanpur hotel, Rs 19 lakh recovered


Kanpur, 13 April (His). The Crime Branch team has arrested three people betting in IPL from a hotel located in Harbansh Mohal police station area. Rs 19 lakh has been recovered from the possession of bookies.

Giving this information on Saturday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Sonkar said that among the arrested bookies are Rahul alias Mudit, Sumit Gupta, Sumit Anand alias Sumo. A speculator managed to escape from the spot. A total of Rs 19 lakh cash has been recovered from the arrested bookie. This money used to come into his bank account from outside India. During interrogation, these people told that they were betting from different hotels of the city and used to settle accounts with their other members daily. Other information is still being provided in this.

It is noteworthy that for the past several days, information was being received about black betting business going on in a hotel located on Malroad in Harbansh Mohal police station area. A crime branch team was deployed to uncover this. Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team raided the hotel on Saturday and arrested three people from the spot. One escaped from the spot and is being searched.
