Dumka (Jharkhand), March 03 (HS). Hansdiha police arrested three accused in the case of assault, robbery of a Spanish foreign tourist bike rider couple and gang rape of a woman and sent them to jail on Sunday. The arrested accused include Rajan Marandi, Pradeep Kisku and Sukhlal Hembram. All were arrested while sleeping from the same house.
The police arrested the accused in the case under police station case number 18/24 under sections 395 and 376 D of the Indian Penal Code and presented them in the court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class Sarthak Sharma. The court sent all three accused to jail in judicial custody. Statement 164 of the victim couple was recorded before Judicial Magistrate, First Class Sarthak Sharma under the leadership of SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar.
Here, Special Branch, Forensic Team and CID team are investigating at the incident site in Kanjo village of Kurumahat in Hansdiha police station area. Identification parade of the criminals took place in the court in front of Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishwanath Bhagat and other judges. The judicial process is being completed rapidly. The forensic team has presented all the reports before the court. The couple's husband was made to talk to the Embassies of Brazil and Spain online through the virtual platform set up in the court premises.
However, four criminals are still away from the police. All the accused are married. SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar said that two SIT teams have been formed. One team is conducting raids for investigation and the other team for arrest. Police will soon be successful in arresting the absconding accused. During the investigation, the watch, foreign silver coins and Bangladeshi dollars looted from the foreign couple have been recovered from the spot.
It is noteworthy that the victim couple has set out on a world tour by bike. The woman has dual citizenship of Brazil and Spain while the man is Spanish. Both have come to India on Spanish passports. After entering India from Bangladesh, they were going to Nepal via Dumka. On Friday evening, they pitched a tent in Kurmahat of Hansdiha police station area and started resting for the night.
Meanwhile, seven miscreants entered the tent, tied up the husband, took the woman out of the tent and committed gang rape. Not only this, the accused beat up the couple and looted foreign currency. Hansdiha police station, which was out on patrol late on Friday night, saw them on the roadside and admitted the woman to the hospital.
