Rudrapur (Udham Singh Nagar), 14 May (HIST). There has been a stir after receiving an e-mail threatening to blow up Pantnagar Airport in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The bomb disposal squad also conducted a search operation in the airport. However he did not find any suspicious object. After this the security of the airport has been increased. From passengers to employees, they have to go through strict searches to go inside the airport.
Air service provider company Alliance Air had received a threatening e-mail on May 11, in which there was a threat to bomb Pantnagar Airport. After this, the company management on Monday forwarded a mail to the Airport Authority of India headquarters and Pantnagar Airport Director Sumit Saxena and informed about the threat of bombing Pantnagar Airport.
As soon as this information was received, there was panic in the airport administration and security agencies came on high alert and immediately the bomb disposal squad searched the airport premises, terminal building and the runway for about three hours. During this period the team did not find any suspicious object. However, the airport administration has started three-tier checking as a precaution.
It is noteworthy that four flights operate from Pantnagar Airport. There is a daily traffic of six hundred passengers from here. Pantnagar Airport Director Sumit Saxena said that the police administration and security agencies have been alerted as soon as information about the threat was received. No suspicious object has been found in the search operation of the bomb disposal squad. Meanwhile, SSP Manju Nath TC also inspected Pantnagar Airport and took stock of the security arrangements.
