Hooghly, August 18 (HS). On the instructions of the state Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and on the call of Trinamool Congress, thousands of people took to the streets in various areas of Hooghly district on Saturday afternoon demanding the harshest punishment for the culprits of the RG tax case and demanded death penalty for the culprits of the RG tax case.

Thousands of people took to the streets in Rishra on Saturday evening under the leadership of Rishra Municipality Chairman Vijay Sagar Mishra and demanded justice for the RG Kar victim. A huge rally was taken out from Rishra Municipality to Char Batti Mor on Saturday evening and the death penalty for the culprits of the RG Kar case was demanded. Carrying placards in their hands, women raised the slogan 'We want justice'. Mishra said that the culprits of the RG Kar case should be hanged. The case of the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Kar Hospital is very sensitive. There should be no politics over this. Mishra said that the truth of the case should come out in front of everyone as soon as possible.

A huge rally was taken out in Srirampur under the leadership of MP Kalyan Banerjee and demand was made for death penalty for the culprits of RG Kar scam.

At the same time, in Chunchura, thousands of people came out on the streets on Saturday afternoon under the leadership of MLA Asit Majumdar and submitted a petition demanding justice for the victim.

Similar protests by the Trinamool Congress were seen in other areas of Hooghly district on Saturday afternoon.
