– In view of the attack on Trump, there will be additional security arrangements for PM Modi – Air Force fighter planes have been given the responsibility of guarding the sky
New Delhi, 09 August (HS). This time the security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort will be dependent on Artificial Intelligence. For this, for the first time in India, AI-based surveillance and automated crowd system will be deployed. In view of the recent attack on former President Donald Trump during the election campaign in America, additional security arrangements will be made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The security command of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort will be under the Ministry of Defense and the Army. Air Force fighter jets have been assigned the responsibility of aerial surveillance. In view of security preparations, a team of central intelligence agencies and all related security agencies recently visited the Red Fort and held a review meeting. In the review meeting, emphasis was laid on making additional arrangements to maintain strict surveillance in the high-security celebrations to be held at the Red Fort in view of the attack on former President Donald Trump in the US.
Security agencies will deploy artificial intelligence-based security systems with advanced surveillance features and automated crowd estimation facilities in and around the Red Fort on Independence Day, a Defence Ministry official said. CCTVs with video analytics features will be deployed at strategic locations at the venue. The intelligence video surveillance system will have features such as vehicle number plate recognition system, face recognition, people movement counting, tripwires, audio detection, intrusion and dropped or lost items.
AI-equipped cameras will also be used to count the entry and exit of people inside the Red Fort complex during the ceremony. The crowd will be estimated through AI. The cameras will have the ability to detect items left at public places, the official said. Intrusion detection features will protect high risk. Alarms can be set in different zones as per the sensitivity of each area. This advanced feature will identify faces on live cameras as well as recorded videos.
Giving more details about the new changes, a senior official said that they have been using facial recognition system for the past several years but this year, Number Plate Recognition (NPR) system will be deployed which will detect vehicle plates based on videos. This system will record videos and take snapshots of every vehicle or vehicle violating traffic rules. It will be integrated with multiple cameras or sensors to capture the image of the driver.
