It is said in the scriptures that without a Guru we cannot attain God. The glory of the Guru has been praised in many ways in the scriptures. In honor of the Guru, Guru Parva is celebrated every year on Ashadh Purnima, which is also known as Guru Purnima and Ashadh Purnima. This is a day to express gratitude to the Guru.

Guru Purnima has great significance in Hinduism. On this day disciples worship their gurus and seek their blessings.

On this day, the birth anniversary of Maharishi Ved Vyas is celebrated. The date of Ashadh Purnima is dedicated to Maharishi Ved Vyas. Ved Vyas is considered the first Guru of the world. Ved Vyas composed the four Vedas. He was also the author of the Mahabharata. The day of Guru Purnima is also special for the initiation of disciples.

Guru Purnima day is special for worshipping Gurus. Along with this, fast is also observed on Guru Purnima day. It is believed that fasting and worshipping on Guru Purnima brings happiness and prosperity in life. His knowledge increases.

According to the Panchang, the full moon date of Ashadh month will start on July 20 at 6 pm and will end on July 21 at 3:47 pm. Purnima Vrat is observed only on the full moon date of Chandra Udayavyaapi. Therefore, Purnima Vrat will be observed on July 20. But July 21 will be a good day for Purnima bath and donation. Also, Guru Purnima puja can be done on both 20 and 21 July.

Know the method of worshiping Guru Purnima

Wake up early on the morning of Guru Purnima, take a bath, meditate on Lord Vishnu and then take a pledge to observe the Purnima fast. After this, purify the puja room by sprinkling Gangajal. Then spread a yellow or red cloth and install the idols of Lord Vishnu, Mata Lakshmi and Ved Vyas ji. Apply tilak on them. Offer Panchamrit. Add Tulsi leaves. Worship Goddess Lakshmi and Ved Vyas ji along with Lord Vishnu. Light incense and lamps. Light a ghee lamp on this day. Serve sweets, fruits and halwa. Recite Guru Chalisa. Also recite Guru Purnima Vrat Katha. Finally, pray to Lord Satyanarayan.
