Matthew Wade International Cricket Retirement: Matthew Wade, one of Australia's successful and respected players, has decided to retire from international cricket. Now he will start his coaching career. Wade played 36 Tests, 97 ODIs and 92 T20 matches for Australia. His last international match was in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup held in West Indies this year. He played an important role in Australia's victory in the 2021 World Cup.
Smoky batted against Pakistan
Wade played a key role in many Australian victories during his 13-year career. Especially in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, he performed brilliantly in the semi-finals against Pakistan. He defeated Babar Azam's team by playing an inning of 41 runs. At one time it seemed that Pakistan team would easily win the match, but Wade made the match exciting as soon as he came to the crease. He scored 41 runs on 17 balls. Meanwhile, he stunned Pakistan by hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes.
I will coach against Pakistan
Wade will join the Australian coaching staff under Andre Borovik for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan and the ODI series starting in Melbourne next week. Despite his coaching debut, he will continue to play domestic cricket in the Big Bash League with Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes. Wade said, 'I was fully aware that my international days would probably end at the end of the last T20 World Cup. I have been in constant conversation with George Bailey and Andrew McDonald for the last six months about my international retirement and coaching.
'Will continue to play franchise league'
Wade said, 'Coaching has been on my mind for several years and fortunately I have had some great opportunities for which I am very grateful and excited. I will continue to play BBL and other franchise leagues in the summer. I want to thank all my Australian teammates, staff and coaches. I enjoyed the journey. I would also like to thank my family, parents and sisters who gave me time to play and train over the years.
