Why is excess salt dangerous?
The World Health Organization recommends consuming a maximum of 5 grams of salt per day, i.e. about 1 teaspoon of salt, to stay healthy, but in all the countries of Europe, people consume more salt than this standard. Due to which they are at risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke and other heart-related diseases.
How to Reduce the Risk of a Heart Attack
For Europe, WHO has said that if salt intake is reduced, this risk can be reduced significantly. Nowadays, salt is mostly used in street food and processed food. One should avoid eating it. According to the organization, if the amount of salt in food is reduced by just 25 percent, at least 9 lakh lives can be saved by 2030.
