Leena was born on 29 August 1950 in a Konkani Marathi family in Dharwad, Karnataka. His father Srinath Chandavarkar was an army officer. Leena’s inclination was started towards the glamor industry at an early age. After modeling for a few months, he participated in the fresh face beauty contest organized by Filmfare. Leena finished second in the contest.
