This is a conspiracy to divide…: Kharge targets PM Modi's statement on Mangalsutra

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticized Prime Minister Modi's statement on Mangalsutra in the Banswara rally in Rajasthan on Sunday. During this he said that PM Modi always keeps plotting to divide.

Mallikarjun Kharge said, they have always had a conspiracy to divide, who has the courage to do so. What is important is how to take the country forward. Leaving this aside they are doing Hindu-Muslim, SC, OBC. They are doing all this for votes. Not doing it for the interest of the country.

Those who have more children, we will distribute them: PM Modi

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi had targeted the Congress manifesto during his speech at a rally in Banswara. During this, he said that the Congress Party wants to calculate the gold of the women of the country and distribute it. Congress wants to snatch the gold and wealth from the people and distribute it among those who produce more children. Along with this, PM Modi stressed the importance of Mangalsutra for women and said that no government has the power to snatch it.

Targeting the Congress, PM Modi said that when the Congress party was in the government, it used to say that Muslims have the first right on the country's property. This is because they will distribute this property and gold among those who have more children. PM said that this is the idea of urban Naxalites. Those people of my mother and sister will not let your mangalsutra remain, they will go to such lengths.

Request to Election Commission to take action against PM- Singhvi

Congress alleged that PM Modi and BJP have deliberately and repeatedly used religion, religious symbols and religious sentiments in their election campaign. Meanwhile, Congress leader and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said on Monday that the party has submitted its application to the Election Commission. Congress, in its petition on PM's recent speech in Banswara, Rajasthan, has requested the Election Commission to take appropriate action against PM Modi.

PM Modi violated Article 123

Singhvi said that the Prime Minister's statement is 'seriously objectionable'. I have had the privilege of leading the Congress delegation that dealt with about 17 complaints to the Election Commission. The most important one is that of the highly objectionable comments made by the Chief Executive Officer of this Government. In the meantime we respect his position. He is as much our Prime Minister as you and he belongs to BJP. Unfortunately the statement we have seen is seriously objectionable. We request PM Modi with folded hands to withdraw this statement and give us an explanation. Singhvi told the Election Commission that this is the position in the law, we will do in his honor what we do to others.

Singhvi said that the Election Commission should take immediate action against PM Modi. That statement is on his official handle. What did he say in Rajasthan? I find this offensive. He has named a community. He has spoken clearly about religion. He has clearly violated Article 123.
