Another historical gift is going to be received from the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Tourism Department to once again revive the glory and culture of Tretayug in Ayodhya, the holy city of Lord Shri Ram. After the grand construction of Ram temple, now the construction work of the grand ‘Panchavati’ (Panchavati Project), built at a cost of about Rs 100 crore on the banks of river Saryu, has reached its final stage. This unique project has been prepared to give the devotees and tourists from India and abroad coming to Ayodhya a direct experience of the period of exile of Lord Shri Ram and the mythological era of the ascetics of sages and sages. According to state government sources, this Rs 100 crore dream project will be grandly inaugurated just after Diwali, after which it will become the main center of attraction for tourists visiting Ayodhya. Let us know what are the characteristics of this mythological Panchvati taking shape on the banks of Saryu and what special experience it is going to give to the devotees.
#1 What is the mythological significance of Panchavati and why was it built in Ayodhya?
According to mythological texts and Ramayana, Panchavati was the holy place where Lord Rama, Mother Sita and Lakshmana spent some time during their exile and where the plan of killing Ravana was prepared with the blessings of Maharishi Agastya. Panchavati, located on the banks of the Godavari in Nashik, Maharashtra, has immense religious significance in Hinduism. On the same lines, under the vision of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ‘Panchavati Vatika’ has been realized on modern lines by planting five special types of ancient and sacred trees – Vat (Banyan), Ashwattha (Peepal), Bilva (Bell), Mango and Amla – near the banks of Saryu in Ayodhya under a special landscaping. The main objective of this entire project is to directly connect the new generation with the environment, culture and sage tradition of the Ramayana period, so that they can experience that environment of Tretayuga directly, not just in stories.
#1 These world class facilities and attractions will be available in this 100 crore mega project
Prepared with a huge budget of around Rs 100 crore, this Panchvati project shows a wonderful confluence of modern architecture and ancient Indian culture. The following major attractions and facilities have been developed for the tourists and devotees visiting this grand complex:
-
Mythological Garden and Meditation Zone: A dense forest of medicinal plants, flowers and ancient trees found in the Ramayana period has been developed within the complex, amidst which quiet and beautiful cottages have been built for meditation.
-
Laser Light and Sound Show: In the evening, a state-of-the-art laser and sound show will be organized for the tourists depicting the life of Lord Shri Ram, the sufferings of Mother Sita and the events of Panchavati, which will add to the tourism of Ayodhya.
-
Digital Ramayana Museum: To connect the young generation through technology, a special digital gallery has been created, where major episodes of Ramayana can be seen in live form through 3D and AR (Augmented Reality) technology.
-
Handicrafts and Local Art Market: To promote the culture of Uttar Pradesh and local artisans, a grand craft market has been built outside the complex, where traditional products and religious items of Ayodhya can be found.
#1 Grand inauguration will be done after Diwali, tourism graph will increase in Ayodhya
Since the consecration ceremony of Ram temple, there has been a record breaking increase in the number of tourists and Ram devotees coming to Ayodhya from all over the world. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department believes that with the opening of this Rs 100 crore Panchvati project immediately after the Deepotsav on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the stay duration of tourists will increase further in Ayodhya. Till now tourists used to come only for a few hours to visit the Ram temple, but with the introduction of facilities like Panchavati, guided heritage walk and laser show, they will be able to spend at least two-three days in Ayodhya. This will provide a big economic boost to the hotel business, transport and restaurant industry at the local level and new employment opportunities will be created.
#1 Strict arrangements for local administration and security
As the date of inauguration of Panchvati project approaches, Ayodhya District Administration and Development Authority (ADA) has intensified preparations. Tight security arrangements have been made around the Saryu coast so that lakhs of devotees coming during Diwali and inauguration do not have to face any kind of inconvenience. The Chief Minister’s Office itself is monitoring the entire project so that all the finishing works are completed within the stipulated time frame. This ‘Panchavati’ project is going to prove to be a big milestone in the direction of making Ayodhya a global level cultural and spiritual tourism centre.
