'This election will decide the future of Jammu and Kashmir', highlights of PM Modi's speech | News India

Taking aim at nepotism, PM Modi said that these people did not allow new leadership to emerge. PM Modi said that Panchayat elections were not held here till 2005. BDC elections were not held. For decades, nepotism did not allow the people here to come forward.

We had two constitutions in Jammu and Kashmir

The Prime Minister said, 'These days these people keep the Constitution in their pockets. They are doing this show to hide their black deeds.' Every child in Jammu and Kashmir knows what the reality is. These people have torn to pieces the soul of the Constitution made by Baba Saheb. Otherwise what was the reason that there were two Constitutions in Jammu and Kashmir? Why are the people here not getting the rights that they have got in other parts of the country? What is the reason that our hill brothers and sisters here did not get reservation for so many years? In Jammu and Kashmir, they did not even take the name of SC/ST and OBC.

PM Modi attacked the opposition

Targeting the opposition, the PM said, 'After so many generations, the BJP government has given them reservation, today there are many friends who have got the right to vote for the first time. The Constitution of India gives the right to vote to everyone. But those who roam around with the Constitution in their pockets snatched the right to vote from some of you for 75 years.

Terrorism is on its last legs

PM Modi said, 'You remember the time when an undeclared curfew was imposed here as soon as the day ended. The situation was such that even the Home Minister of the Congress Central Government was afraid to go to Lal Chowk. Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is now breathing its last. The change that has happened here in the last 10 years is no less than a dream. New Jammu and Kashmir is being built with the stones that were earlier used to attack the police and the army.

People of Jammu and Kashmir need to be careful

PM Modi said that only the BJP government will do the work of giving full statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir. But you need to be cautious of such people who are snatching your rights for their own selfish interests.
