Ingredients to make Punjabi Dal Tadka
- ½ cup yellow toor dal
- ¼ cup yellow moong dal
- ½ cup chopped red onion
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon chopped green chilli
- ½ cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2-3 whole dried red chillies
- 2 spoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
- 2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
- 2 teaspoons chopped coriander

- To make Punjabi Dal Tadka, first wash the Toor Dal and Magni Dal thoroughly with water 2 to 3 times. – After this soak the pulses in 2-3 cups of water.
- – Now keep the oil in the cooker to heat. When the oil is hot, add onion to it and cook while stirring until it turns golden. – After this, add ginger and garlic in the cooker and cook for 2 minutes.
- Then add green chilli, tomato, coriander powder, turmeric powder and Kashmiri red chilli powder and cook for 5 minutes. – After this, filter the lentils and add 3 cups of water and salt to the cucumber and mix well.
- Keep the flame of the cooker medium. – After this, close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook the dal till one whistle. After this, reduce the flame and cook for 10 to 12 minutes more. – After this, remove the cooker from the gas and let the cooker cool down.
- After this, open the lid of the cooker and add lemon juice to the cooker and mix the dal well with the help of a mixer, until the dal becomes a little thick. Check the salt at this stage, you can increase the amount of salt if necessary.
- – Now prepare dal tadka. To make Dal Sundae, heat ghee in a small pan on medium flame, add cumin and asafoetida and fry for 4-5 seconds. – Now add dry red chilli and garlic and fry till it turns golden.
- – After this, turn off the flame and add Kashmiri red chilli powder. – Turn this prepared tadka into the cooker and cover it immediately. – After mixing the dal tadka well, garnish with green coriander and serve with hot rice or roti.
