A big case of adulteration has come to light in Behror of Alwar district. Taking major action, the Food Department team raided the Bohra sweets shop, where 500 kg of contaminated Rasgulla was found. The team destroyed adulterated Rasgullas on the spot and seized domestic gas cylinders. This sweet was being supplied in various cities of Delhi and NCR for a long time.

500 kg of adulterated Rasgulla was destroyed

Food Department official Hemant Yadav said that a special campaign is being run to stop adulteration on the occasion of Diwali. In the same sequence, on the information of an informer, a raid was conducted on Bohra Sweets Store in Behror. During the raid, about 500 kg of tainted Rasgulla was found in the warehouse, which was giving off a foul smell. After investigation, Rasgulla was buried underground with the help of JCB and about a dozen domestic gas cylinders were also seized from the spot.

Adulterated Rasgulla was being supplied in Delhi-NCR

Investigation also revealed that Rasgulla and other sweets from Behror were being supplied to Delhi, Gurugram and surrounding areas for a long time. At present, the Food Department has sent the samples of Rasgulla to the lab for testing and the Logistics Department has been informed about the domestic gas cylinders.

Food Department has appealed to the people to provide information

Food Department official Hemant Yadav said that due to increase in demand for milk, cheese and sweets during the festive season, a special campaign is being run against adulteration in the entire state. Due to this, adulterators sell fake and adulterated food items, which has adverse effects on people's health. Hemant Yadav has also appealed to the general public to lodge complaints of adulteration, for which a reward is given by the government and the identity of the complainant is kept secret.
