IPL Mega Auction: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the final list of players for the IPL 2025 auction on November 15. 1574 players gave their names for IPL mega auction. More than one thousand names have been removed from these. In which there are names of 574 players. Of which 366 are Indians and 208 are foreigners. A maximum of 204 players will be part of the teams in the auction. There may also be 70 foreigners in it. IPL mega auction will be held on 24th and 25th November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia but there are many big cricketers who will not be a part of this auction. This includes names like England’s fast bowler Joffra Archer, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Australia’s Cameron Green. However, James Anderson will be included in the IPL auction for the first time. He sent his name and it is also a part of the final list.
The absence of names of Archer and Wood is surprising. If these two English players do not participate in the mega auction, then questions may arise about their playing in the next IPL. The rules were issued by the IPL Governing Council last month. It added that if a foreign player does not enroll for the mega auction, he will be banned from participating in the auction for three years. Both Wood and Archer have been struggling with injuries for some time. Archer last played in the IPL in 2023 for Mumbai Indians. Wood also last played in IPL 2023. He was then a part of Lucknow Super Giants. After this Wood played four matches and took 11 wickets.
Apart from Archer and Wood, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is also not included in the final list of IPL 2025 auction. He is still injured and will not be able to play for six months. For this reason his name has not been selected for the auction. He has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Before IPL 2024, RCB acquired him through trade. The names of Joe Root, Chris Woakes and England’s rising wicketkeeper batsman Jamie Smith are also not in the final list of the auction.
