Diwali Bonus for Government Employees: There is good news for central employees. The Central Modi government has given the gift of Diwali bonus to the employees before announcing the increase in dearness allowance. The Finance Ministry has announced Non-Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad Hoc Bonus) for central employees for the financial year 2023-24. Under this, Group B and Group C category employees will get money equal to 30 days' salary.
The order issued by the Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry said that the eligible employees include Group 'C' and Group 'B' non-gazetted employees who are not part of any productivity-linked bonus scheme. The maximum monthly salary used to calculate the bonus has been fixed at Rs 7,000.
These employees will get benefits
Eligible employees of central paramilitary forces and armed forces will also get the benefit. Also, this bonus will be given to those employees who have been in service till March 31, 2024 and have worked for at least 6 months during the year 2023-24. In other words, those personnel who have retired invalidly on medical grounds or died before March 31, but have performed regular duty for six months in the financial year, will be considered eligible for the adhoc bonus. All payments will be rounded off to the nearest rupee and the expenses will be covered by the respective ministries and departments within their approved budgets.
Bonus will be calculated like this
A rule has been made to determine the amount to be given under Adhoc Bonus. The bonus amount will be calculated by dividing the average emoluments by 30.4, then multiplying it by 30 days. For example, if an employee's monthly salary is Rs 7,000, their bonus will be approximately (7000 x 30/30.4 + Rs 6907.89) Rs 6,908. Casual laborers who work for at least 240 days in a year for three consecutive years will also be eligible for this bonus, which will be calculated on the basis of Rs 1,200 per month. Lakhs of central government employees will benefit from this decision.
