Punjab Weather Update: Due to lack of rain for some time, the temperature in Punjab has increased again. During the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature of the day has increased by 0.6 degrees. Today i.e. on Wednesday, there is a possibility of good rain in Punjab, which will provide relief from heat in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Patiala, SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib by 10:30 am.
According to the Meteorological Department, 32.5 mm of rain was recorded in Patiala, Amritsar yesterday evening. Apart from this, 8.5 mm of rain was recorded in Rupnagar, while the day remained hot and humid in other districts. Bathinda's temperature was once again recorded at 42 degrees. Apart from this, 38.7 degrees were recorded in Amritsar, 37.4 degrees in Ludhiana, 38.3 degrees in Patiala, 38 degrees in Faridkot and Gurdaspur and 37.3 degrees in Jalandhar.
After a week of humid and hot days, Punjab is likely to receive rain on Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and SAS Nagar. Heavy rains are also expected in these 18 districts on Wednesday and Thursday along with strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 kmph.
Rainfall in Punjab is going to prove very beneficial for the farmers. So far in the monsoon season, from June 1 to July 15, there has been 34 percent less rainfall in Punjab. Due to which farmers are completely dependent on groundwater for paddy cultivation.
According to the estimate of the Agriculture Department, paddy has been sown in 32 lakh hectares of area in Punjab this time. Farmers are going to get a big relief after this rain. People are facing a lot of problems due to lack of rain.
