The US State Department said in a statement that four companies and three ships have been banned for doing oil trade with Iran. The Iranian government is making billions of dollars from this trade, which it uses to support terrorism and oppress its own people.
Which Indian company was banned?
America has imposed sanctions on Indian company Atlantic Navigation OPC Pvt Ltd for buying oil from Iran. The company operates the vessels Vigor and ISM. This ban has been imposed over alleged trade with Iranian petroleum and petrochemicals.
Which companies are banned except India?
Apart from India, three other companies have also been banned. One of these is Chinese company Breakalin. While the others are Shiny Sales Shipping Company of Seychelles and Galaxy Management Company of Suriname. The US alleges that all these companies were involved in the purchase, sale and transportation of petroleum or petroleum products from Iran. Along with this, Cameroon-flagged ships and Panama-flagged ships have also been banned.
