Let us tell you that Indian Railways is going to manufacture 10,000 non-air conditioned coaches in the next two financial years for the convenience of common rail passengers.
Northern Railway (NR) said that the aim of this initiative is to increase facilities for common rail passengers. After manufacturing 10,000 non-AC coaches in the next two years, their share in the total passenger coaches will increase to 22 percent.
During the financial year 2024-25, the railways will also manufacture 2,605 general class coaches, 1,470 sleeper class coaches and 323 SLR (guard and disabled reserved) class coaches along with 32 parcel vans and 55 pantry cars. According to the statement, this construction program, designed to improve passenger convenience, also includes general, sleeper and SLR coaches for Amrit Bharat trains.
Similarly, 2,710 general class coaches, 1,910 sleeper class coaches, 514 SLR coaches, 200 parcel vans and 110 pantry cars will be manufactured in FY 2025-26.
According to the statement, the focus of the railways is to ensure adequate and better facilities for passengers traveling in non-AC coaches and to increase comfort and availability according to the changing needs of passengers and seasonal fluctuations. With the construction of new railway coaches, the railways will be in a position to provide fixed tickets to a large number of passengers.
