Heavy rain forecast and monsoon update June 13: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its latest report that conditions are favorable for the advance of southwest monsoon into parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 3 days. The weather agency has predicted that 12 states including West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam may receive heavy rainfall. It has also said that heat wave will prevail in many states of North India. The IMD has issued a red alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. At the same time, a heat wave warning has also been issued in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department said that during the next 5 days, winds will blow at a speed of 40-60 kmph and there will be light rain in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh. According to the IMD, India has received one percent less rainfall than normal since the season began on June 1.
Possibility of rain in these states
According to the IMD, light to heavy rains accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are likely over Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana during the next five days. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during June 13-16.
