There were 98 deals worth $1.8 billion in April 2020 compared to 204 deals worth $8 billion in April 2020.


The lowest number of merger and acquisition deals took place in the last 76 months i.e. the year 2018. In April 2024, there were only 98 deals worth $1.8 billion in mergers and acquisitions. Talking about the same period last year, in April 2023, a total of 204 deals worth eight billion dollars were signed. According to the April 2024 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) update, the number of global mergers and acquisitions deals in 2023 recorded the largest decline in the last ten years. Geopolitical tensions, persistently high rates of inflation, tight monetary conditions and deteriorating economic outlook were the main factors.

If we talk about the years after 2018, the highest increase was recorded in April 2022. There were 194 mergers and acquisition deals in April 2022. Whose price was 70 billion dollars. These figures were released by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Deals Intelligence.

The number of mergers and acquisitions deals fell 33.6 percent to $20.6 billion in the first four months of the year. Whose value in the same period of 2019 was 31.1 billion dollars. At the global level the decline was 16.8 percent. India's contribution to the global M&A sector in the year 2024 was 1.9 percent. Talking about the year 2019, India's contribution was 2.4 percent. Also, this contribution in the year 2022 was 7.2 percent. Which was the biggest jump after 2018.
