There was a stir in Chhattisgarh due to the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, an incident took place for exposing corruption.

The case of murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar has come to light in Chhattisgarh, which has created a sensation in the entire region. His body was recovered from the septic tank located in the premises of contractor Suresh Chandrakar on January 3. Police have arrested three accused in this case—Ritesh Chandrakar, Mahendra, and Dinesh Chandrakar. The main reason for the murder is said to be the exposure of corruption in the road project.

Mukesh Chandrakar had gone to contractor Suresh Chandrakar’s place for a meeting on the night of 1 January. After this, his elder brother Yukesh Chandrakar lodged his missing report on January 2.

According to police investigation:

  • Ritesh Chandrakar called Mukesh for a meeting.
  • Ritesh and Mahendra attacked Mukesh with iron rods.
  • After being hit on the head, chest, stomach and back, his body was thrown into a septic tank.
  • Dinesh Chandrakar helped hide the evidence.

Root cause:
According to reports, there was a good friendship between Ritesh and Mukesh. But Mukesh had exposed the alleged corruption in the road project of contractor Suresh Chandrakar. This revelation increased the resentment among Ritesh and other accused and it became the reason for the murder.

  1. Ritesh Chandrakar – Main conspirator and cousin of Mukesh.
  2. Mahendra – Partners in attack.
  3. Dinesh Chandrakar – Helpful in hiding evidence.
