Why is Jamaica important for India? Know the reason
With an area of only 10,991 sq km (approximately the size of the state of Tripura) in the Caribbean archipelago, the importance of this island nation to Indians who have lived there for generations is immense. What's more, when India wants to get permanent membership in the United Nations Security Committee, every vote in the United Nations General Assembly is important. Therefore India seeks the support (by vote) of the members of the British Commonwealth. The opinion of the small island nation of Jamaica is also important in that calculation. Holness hopes to attract other island nations to India.
