Indore, August 29 (HS). State Chief Secretary Veera Rana reviewed security and related measures in medical institutions through video conferencing on Thursday by holding a meeting with all the divisional commissioners, IGs, collectors and superintendents of police of the state. She directed to ensure tight security arrangements for the safety of doctors, paramedical staff, patients etc. in medical institutions. She directed that proper arrangements for surveillance and security should be ensured in all medical institutions. Wide availability of CCTV cameras, entry control systems and security personnel should be ensured. No negligence and indifference should be shown in security. Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh from Burhanpur and Collector Ashish Singh from Indore, along with senior officials of police and other related departments were present in the video conferencing.

Chief Secretary Veera Rana said that continuous security arrangements should be ensured in those health institutions where there is high daily movement of patients and their relatives. Make a comprehensive security policy in the health institution and implement it effectively. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) should be developed in it which include various security aspects. Regularly evaluate the security risks in the health institution premises. All possible threats such as unauthorized entry, theft and possibilities of violent incidents should be identified and measures should be taken to control them.

He said that 24X7 monitoring of the entire institute and premises should be ensured through CCTV cameras in health institutions. Proper arrangements of lighting will also be made, all blind spots will be identified and new CCTV cameras etc. will be installed and a central control room will be operated. The movement of the relatives of patients in health institutions should be controlled. Adequate and experienced security personnel should be made available in medical institutions. Their police verification should be done.

In continuation of the Supreme Court's instructions, he directed to ensure a safe working environment for all the medical personnel working in all the health institutions and government medical education colleges of the state. Instructions were also given to form a health institution security committee and violence prevention committee in all the hospitals through the senior doctors and local administrative officers.

The Chief Secretary said that administrative officers should also conduct surprise inspections of all medical colleges and hospitals associated with them and other health institutions. A roster should be made for this. Police posts should also be established. Where police posts are already established within the campus, instructions were given to ensure security of the campus. In the remaining medical colleges where posts are not established within the campus, instructions were given to take action for establishing posts there. Instructions were also given to take help of Dial 100 for security arrangements.
