Lucknow, March 29 (HS). CPI (ML) has demanded a judicial inquiry into the death of former MLA Mukhtar Ansari in Banda. The party has said that Ansari's death could also be murder, hence a judicial inquiry is necessary to bring out the truth.

State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav said in a statement issued on Friday that before his death, the former MLA had once told the court that slow poison was being given in his food to kill him, due to which he had become unwell.

Recently, when he was admitted to the Medical College of Banda for treatment, his elder brother and MP Afzal Ansari, after meeting him, had said that an attempt was being made to kill Mukhtar by giving him poison. So that they cannot testify against mafia Brajesh Singh, because if Mukhtar testifies, Brajesh may be punished.

The MP had alleged that jail staff, officers and the government were involved in the conspiracy to kill Mukhtar. Meanwhile, due to the death of Mukhtar and the circumstantial evidence in the incident, the suspicion of his murder becomes stronger. Therefore, there should be an impartial and high level judicial investigation to do justice in the matter. The magisterial inquiry announced by the government is inadequate.
