Even now, the condition of the main Gangrel dam of the region is the worst, there is only six TMC water storage. Murumsilli dam is dry. There is no water in the ponds, tanks and pits of the villages. Due to lack of sufficient rainfall, there is no improvement in the groundwater level. Everyone is waiting for good rain.
Nagari tehsil received the highest rainfall of 495 mm
There has been good rainfall in Nagari and Belargaon tehsils of the district during intermittent rains. Due to hours of rain three days ago, there was a flood like situation in the villages here. The rivers, streams and culverts of the area were overflowing. The road was obstructed due to water flowing over the bridges. The fields and barns are filled with water. Due to excess water filling in the transplanted fields, the possibility of rotting of paddy plants has increased. Now the farmers of the area are waiting for the rain to stop, so that they can do Kharif farming in a better way. This year, the Nagari tehsil of the district has received the highest rainfall of 495 mm from June 1 to July 17 and Belargaon tehsil is at second place with 352 mm rainfall. Whereas Dhamtari tehsil received the lowest rainfall of only 169 mm. Whereas 242 mm rainfall was recorded in Kurud tehsil, 214 mm in Magarlod, 239 mm in Bhakhara and 182 mm in Kukrel. At the same time, only 271 mm average rainfall has been recorded in the district so far, which is less than last year. According to the information, it is noteworthy that till July 17, 2023, a total of 399 mm average rainfall was recorded in Dhamtari district, whereas this year till July 17, 2024, a total of 271 mm average rainfall has been recorded, which is 128 mm less than last year.
There was 16 TMC more water in Gangrel dam
If we look at last year 2023, a total of 20 TMC water was filled in the Gangrel dam with a capacity of 32 TMC, which was 55 percent of the capacity and on 17 July 2023, 3796 cusecs of water was coming into the Gangrel dam from the catchment area. At the same time, on 18 July 2022, more than 27 TMC water had been filled in this dam. Whereas on 17 July 2024, the condition of Gangrel dam is the worst. Due to lack of good rainfall in Dhamtari and Kanker districts in the month of Ashadha, there is currently only six TMC waterlogging here, which is very less. In this way, in the year 2023, 0.34 TMC water was stored in the Madamsilli reservoir, while on 17 July 2024, this dam has more water than last year. There is currently 0.298 TMC water here. Whereas the water filling capacity of this dam is 9.74 TMC. There was 4.432 TMC water storage in Sondhur dam. Whereas currently there is only 1.875 TMC water storage here, which is less. Whereas 6.83 TMC was stored in Dudhwa dam. Whereas on 17 July 2024 there is only 1.609 TMC water here, which is less.
