There is no fault of Rinku or Gill, Rohit…: Agarkar's answer to the question on selection, see what he said

T20 World Cup 2024: Indian men's senior team chief selector Ajit Agarkar has finally broken his silence on not selecting Rinku Singh in India's 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup. Rinku did not get a place in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies after the IPL 2024 season and was included as a reserve player. There was a lot of controversy over Rinku not being included in the team. Now talking about this, Agarkar said that Rinku was not at fault.

Rinku Singh, who has established himself as a finisher in recent months, was questioned a lot for not making it to the 15-member squad. Before the selection of the team, Rinku, who was included in the team of almost every cricket expert, will remain with the team as a reserve player. Rinku has been consistently performing well for the Indian team and has caught everyone's attention with his aggressive batting. Rinku was to be in the 15-member team but he could not join it.

The most difficult decision was not to include Rinku in the team.

A press conference was organized at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday regarding the selection of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. Indian captain Rohit Sharma also participated in this along with Agarkar. When Agarkar was asked about Rinku, he called it the most difficult decision. Agarkar said, there was no fault of Rinku or Gill. Rohit wanted a spinner in the team for more options. Same is the condition of Akshar who is a batting all-rounder. We thought it might prove useful. It was tough for us, but at the end of the day we had to pick a team.
