Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday reacted to the decision given by the Supreme Court in the case of medical entrance exam NEET-UG. He said that there is no evidence that any wrongdoing has happened. The allegations of corruption in NTA are baseless. NTA is a credible organization.
1563 students will have to take re-examination
In the hearing held in the Supreme Court in this matter, the National Testing Agency said that the score-cards of 1563 candidates who got grace marks in NEET UG 2024 will be canceled and the candidates will get a chance to appear in the exam again. The NTA told the bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta that a committee has been constituted to review the results of 1,563 candidates who were given grace marks to compensate for the loss of time while appearing for NEET-UG.
Only 6 examination centres disrupted: Education Minister
The Education Minister said that there are two sets of papers at every examination center. Shortly before the examination, it is told which paper to open. But during the examination, the second set was opened due to which 30 to 40 minutes of time was wasted. After which NTA gave grace marks to the students due to loss of time as per the 2018 decision of the apex court. He also said that we will follow the decision of the Supreme Court and no student will be harmed.
The wrong paper set was received
He said that out of 24 lakh students, 13 lakh students passed the NEET exam. There are 4500 NEET centers across the country. Wrong paper sets reached six centers by mistake. 1563 students appeared for the exam at that center. Therefore, grace marks were given for arriving late for the exam.
