New Delhi, June 10 (HS). After the swearing in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a meeting of the Union Cabinet was held today. Along with this, the distribution of ministries in the cabinet has also been done. There has been no change in the departments of big ministers.
Defence, Finance, Home and External Affairs ministries will remain with Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Amit Shah and Dr. S. Jaishankar as before. Apart from this, Nitin Gadkari will look after the Road Transport Ministry as before. Harsh Malhotra and Ajay Tamta will be the associate ministers in his ministry as Ministers of State.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Manohar Lal Khattar and JP Nadda, who are part of the Modi cabinet, have been given big responsibilities this time. Shivraj has been given the Ministry of Agriculture and Panchayat and Rural Development. Khattar will handle the Urban Development and Power Ministry. Nadda has been given the Health Ministry just like Modi 1.0. Dharmendra Pradhan will remain the Education Minister, Hardeep Puri the Petroleum Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal the Ports and Shipping Minister, Bhupendra Yadav the Environment Minister and Ashwini Vaishnav the Railway Minister. Ashwini Vaishnav has also been given the Information and Broadcasting Ministry this time.
Allies have also been given important ministries in the Modi cabinet. Chirag Paswan has been given the Food Processing Ministry, Jitan Ram Manjhi the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry; Ram Mohan Naidu has been given the Civil Aviation Ministry and HD Kumaraswamy has been given the Heavy Industries and Steel Ministry.
Ministry of Labor and Sports has been given to Mansukh Mandaviya, Ministry of Commerce to Piyush Goyal, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to Kiren Rijiju. CR Patil has been assigned the Ministry of Water Power. Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been given to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ministry of Women and Child Development to Annapurna Devi, Ministry of Minority Affairs has been given to Ravneet Singh Bittu. Ministry of Renewable Energy has been given to Prahlad Joshi, Ministry of Communications to Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ministry of Textiles to Giriraj Singh.
