Bareilly, July 28 (HS). There is an atmosphere of happiness and joy among the people of Bareilly after Santosh Gangwar, an eight-time MP, was made the Governor of Jharkhand. He has been an MP from Bareilly eight times. This time, the party high command had cut his ticket in the Lok Sabha elections citing his age.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hinted about his new role in the public meeting held in Devchara. Santosh Kumar Gangwar is a big leader of the Kurmi community. Santosh Gangwar, who was born in 1948 and obtained a BSc degree as well as LLB degree from Bareilly College, started his electoral journey in 1984.

However, he lost his first election in 1984 to Congress candidate Abida Begum. After this, he contested the Lok Sabha elections again in 1989 and won and became an MP for the first time. After this, he won consecutive elections in 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004. He is known as an influential leader of the Kurmi community, although he is popular among all sections. In 2009, Praveen Singh Aron from Congress stopped his victory chariot. After this, he contested the elections again in 2014 and 2019 and won.
