Mahoba, 20 August (HS) “Listen to the story of Bundelas in Bundelas’ language, the water here is watery, the water here is firey” these lines give a glimpse of the bravery of this brave land. The historic Kajli festival will be inaugurated today on Tuesday with a procession. People from Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Banda, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and other places come to participate in the festival.
District headquarter resident historian Dr. LC Anuragi informed that in 1182 AD, Raja Parmal's daughter Chandraval reached Kirat Sagar with her friends to immerse Bhujrias, when Prithviraj Chauhan's commander Chamundaray, who was besieging Mahoba, attacked. Prithviraj Chauhan laid a condition to marry his son to Chandraval, which was not accepted by Raja Parmal, and the King of Delhi declared war. Then Princess Chandraval fought and sent a letter to Raja Parmal's brave commanders Alha and Udal, pleading for the protection of the motherland. On which Alha-Udal reached Mahoba in the guise of a sadhu and defeated the King of Delhi and after being victorious in the war, the Bundelas immersed Bhujrias in Kirat Sagar. After this, every year a historic Kajli festival is organized here in memory of their bravery. Looking at the bravery of the Bundelas, it is said that the people of Mahoba fought big battles, but the sword lost to them.
