There is 45 kg Rudraksh on his body, know about Geetanand Giri Maharaj who reached Mahakumbh

Mahakumbh 2025 Special: Now only a few days are left for Mahakumbh which will start on 13 January 2025 on the banks of Sangam Tirtha in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Sadhus and saints from across the country have started camping in Prayagraj. Geetanand Giriji Maharaj is one of these saints. Geetanand Maharaj has become very popular among his devotees because of one special thing. Geetanand Giri Maharaj used to wear more than 2.25 lakh Rudraksha on his body.

This resolution was taken in the year 2019

Secretary of Aavahan Akhara Haryana branch, Geetanand Maharaj said that in the Kumbh held in Prayagraj in the year 2019, I had taken a unique resolution. This resolution included wearing 1.25 lakh Rudraksha every day for 12 years. Even though it has been only six years since my resolution, today the number of Rudrakshas has increased to more than 2.25 lakh. Also, the weight of this Rudraksha is more than 45 kg, and its weight will increase even after six years are left for my resolution.

How long should one wear Rudvaksha?

Geetanand Maharaj told that he wears Rudraksh for 12 hours a day. That means Rudraksha is worn at five in the morning and then taken off at five in the evening. As long as Rudraksh remains on the body, he takes very light food and does penance.

How did you become a monk?

During the conversation, Geetanandji Maharaj also told about his personal life. He said, ‘I come from a Brahmin family. I have studied high school through Sanskrit medium. My father was a TT in Railways. My parents did not have any children. But with the blessings of Guruji Maharaj they were blessed with a child. After this he dedicated his child to Guruji. According to Geetanand Maharaj, his parents handed him over to Guruji in Punjab. Since then he has been engaged in the service of the Guru and is living an ascetic life. He told that he studied till high school through Sanskrit medium.
