Ranchi, September 25 (HS). Ranchi Municipal Corporation filed an affidavit in Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday informing that 36 roof top bars and restaurants are running in the city but only two of them have licenses. Notice has been issued to those running roof top bars and restaurants without license and legal action will be taken against those who do not take license, if needed, roof top bars and restaurants will also be sealed.
On this, the court has directed the Municipal Corporation to curb the illegally running roof top bars and restaurants. The court has said that appropriate steps should be taken to monitor them and determine their opening and closing time. Along with this, the court directed to file a reply while directing to control the bars and restaurants under the government's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and take strict action on the sale of drugs like hashish, marijuana, opium. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 29 September. The High Court has taken suo motu cognizance and is hearing the matter on the destruction of opium crops in Khunti and the continuous increase in the business of drugs like opium, hashish, marijuana etc. in Jharkhand.
