Maharashtra Assembly elections are just a few weeks away, so the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday targeted the Congress over a recent statement by Congress state president Nana Patole. The BJP alleged that the Congress is preparing the ground to end the reservation given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes under constitutional provisions. BJP alleged that Congress wants to end reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Patole has called these allegations baseless.
In the viral clip being shared by BJP on social media, Patole is saying, 'What did Rahul Gandhi say? Rahul Gandhi said, we will think about reservation only when everyone is equal. Later, Maharashtra Congress President clarified that Rahul Gandhi had expressed the views of Baba Saheb. Our Constitution is the center point of Baba Saheb's ideology. BJP is creating a false story because it does not know anything about the Constitution.
BJP attacked Congress
BJP IT cell chief President Malviya hit back at the remarks of Congress state president Nana Patole and said that Congress is preparing the ground for removing reservation. He said that as long as Prime Minister Modi and BJP are there, no one can remove the provision of reservation given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes from the Constitution.
Malviya wrote on X that Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole supports Rahul Gandhi's statement 'We will remove reservation'. The provision of reservation was given to remove the social discrimination that had been going on for decades. But Congress has decided to remove reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. All his recent actions and statements are aimed at preparing the ground for that.
He further said that it should be made public that as long as Prime Minister Modi and BJP are there, no Dr. Leave alone removing the reservation given by Bhimrao Ambedkar, we will not be able to even touch it. The Constitution of India is supreme. BJP will defend it at any cost.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also criticized the party over Patole's comments on removal of reservation and termed the old party as 'anti-Dalit'.
