The youth of the village took the risk of crossing the swollen river and took the woman to the hospital | News India

Bijapur, September 2 (HS). A woman named Jogi Podiami consumed a poisonous substance in Marudbaka village of Usur block of the district, due to which she started vomiting and having diarrhea. The woman's condition became so serious that she needed immediate medical help. To save the woman's life, her husband Kosa Podiami appealed to the villagers for help. The youth of the village took risks and crossed the swollen river and tried to take the woman to a safe place. With the help of a rope, they carried the woman on a cot and crossed the drain. After this, the woman was brought to Galgam by walking about 20-22 kilometers. From here she was sent to the district hospital with the help of 108 ambulance.

Since the district is Naxal-affected, lack of basic facilities remains a major problem. During the rains, such situations arise in many areas and the tribal community has to struggle for treatment. A similar case came to light on 26 August. Here, a pregnant woman from Kamkanar was helped to cross the river on a cot and on 22 July, in the Nambi area of Usoor, the CRPF jawans helped a woman cross the river after delivery with the help of a drum.
