Congress has made Manish Tiwari the candidate from Chandigarh seat for the Lok Sabha elections. Manish Tiwari was demanding ticket from Chandigarh since 1991. But he did not get the ticket from here. However, his wish has been fulfilled in the 2024 elections.

On getting the ticket from Chandigarh, Manish Tiwari has thanked former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, current party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leaders Rajiv Shukla and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He said, 'I was born in Chandigarh and did my school and college studies from here.'

BJP gave ticket to veteran leader Sanjay Tand

It is noteworthy that BJP has declared veteran leader Sanjay Tandon as its candidate from Chandigarh. He is currently the co-in-charge of Himachal Pradesh BJP and has played an important role in strengthening the organization in Chandigarh. Sanjay Tandon's father's name is Balramji Das Tandon, he is counted among the senior leaders of BJP in Punjab. He has been the former state president of Chandigarh BJP.

Equation of Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat

In the year 2014, BJP's Kirron Kher had won from Chandigarh seat by 1 lakh 91 thousand 362 votes. Pawan Bansal of Congress stood second. He got 1 lakh 21 thousand 720 votes. At the third place, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gulkirat Kaur Panag got 1 lakh 8 thousand 679 votes. Talking about the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Kirron Kher won by getting 2 lakh 31 thousand 188 votes. Congress's Pawan Kumar Bansal got 1 lakh 84 thousand 218 votes and AAP's Harmohan Dhawan got 13781 votes.
