The outbreak of severe heat continues in Rajasthan. Amidst the scorching heat, the mercury crossed 50 degrees Celsius in Rajasthan on Saturday, the temperature in the state is breaking new records every day. On the first day of Nautapana in Phalodi, Rajasthan, the temperature has reached 50 degrees. On the other hand, the cyclonic storm Relam formed in the Bay of Bengal is 380 kilometers away from West Bengal. It is located in the south-south east and is moving towards the north. The cyclone will hit West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday.
On Saturday, the temperature in Phalodi, Rajasthan, which is famous for its betting market in the country, reached a new record level of more than 50 degrees Celsius. With this, Phalodi remained the hottest city of Rajasthan for the second consecutive day. Earlier, on June 1, 2019, the temperature in Churu in Rajasthan was recorded at 50.8 degrees. Apart from this, the temperature in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Churu, Jodhpur, Ganganagar and Kota crossed 46 degrees. So far 18 people have died due to heat wave in Rajasthan.

The effect of severe heat was felt not only in Rajasthan but also in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The temperature in Delhi was more than 45 degrees Celsius. The effect of heat on the Lok Sabha elections was seen here. Apart from this, Cooch Behar (40.5 degrees) of West Bengal, Silchar (40) and Lumding (45) of Assam and Itanagar (40.5) of Arunachal Pradesh reached their record levels. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, on Saturday the maximum temperature was above 45 degrees Celsius at 17 places in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The heat will increase during the night for the next four days in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, the first cyclonic storm of the season, Relam, has formed in the Bay of Bengal. By late Saturday night, this storm turned into a severe cyclone with high pressure forming over the Bay of Bengal. Cyclone Relam is expected to hit between Sagar Island of West Bengal and Kheupada of Bangladesh at midnight on Sunday. The Meteorological Department said that this cyclonic storm can hit at a high speed of 110-120 km per hour. After hitting the ground, Relam is expected to move at a speed of 135 km per hour.
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the coastal districts of West Bengal and North Odisha on 26 and 27 May. Apart from this, heavy rains may occur in some parts of Northeast India on 27 May and 28 May. There is a fear of 1.5 meter high waves rising in the sea when a storm arrives. The Meteorological Department has declared an orange alert in many districts of West Bengal. The government has warned fishermen not to go into the waters of the northern part of the Bay of Bengal for the next three days. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura on 27 and 28 May.
