Mirzapur, July 10 (HS). Notification for by-election in Majhawan assembly constituency of Mirzapur district may be issued. In view of this, the Election Department has started preparing for the by-election. First Level Checking (FLC) was started from Wednesday under tight security of EVMs and VVPATs to be used in the by-election. On the instructions of District Election Officer Priyanka Niranjan, the warehouse of unused EVMs and VVPATs in the Lok Sabha General Election 2024 was opened on Wednesday in front of the representatives of the political party.
FLC was done under the supervision of Assistant District Election Officer Alok Kumar Sharma and SOC Narendra Singh. FLC of 884 EVMs and VVPATs will be done by July 17 for the by-election. It is noteworthy that this seat has become vacant after Assembly Majhawan MLA Dr. Vinod Bind became MP from Bhadohi. Earlier in the 2022 assembly elections, Dr. Vinod Bind contested on the ticket of Nishad Party and won the election by getting one lakh three thousand 235 votes. At the same time, his nearest rival Rohit Shukla of Samajwadi Party got 69 thousand 648 votes. Pushpalata Bind of Bahujan Samaj Party, who stood third, got 52 thousand 990 votes.
