He said that this time the process for visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham is being simplified. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself is continuously taking feedback regarding the yatra. He has appealed to the passengers to cooperate in making arrangements.

Importance of Shri Kedarnath Temple

Shri Kedarnath is a holy place of Lord Shiva located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Every year lakhs of people come here for darshan. Kedarnath is also counted among the twelve Jyotirlingas and Panch Kedar of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu religious beliefs, the Shivalinga installed in the Kedarnath temple is self-manifested.

Mystery of Shri Badrinath Temple

Shri Badrinath is considered to be one of the major Dhams of Chardham which is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River in the Himalayan mountain range. This is mainly a temple of Lord Vishnu, where Nara and Narayana are worshipped. This temple is divided into three parts – Sanctum Sanctorum, Darshan Mandap and Sabha Mandap. There are 15 sculptures in the Badrinath temple complex. The most prominent idol among these is of Lord Vishnu.

Every year the doors are closed for six months

Let us tell you that every year the doors of Kedarnath Dham will be closed for six months on the day of Bhai Dooj. After this it opens on Akshaya Tritiya. Baba is worshiped in Omkareshwar temple during these 06 months. The date of closure of the doors is announced on the day of Vijayadashami and the announcement of opening of the doors is made on the day of Mahashivratri. Whereas the doors of Badrinath Dham usually open two days after Kedarnath Dham.

This is the reason for the doors closing

Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham are in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand. Every year snowfall starts here in the months of October to November. Due to this, traffic routes get disrupted. For this reason, the doors of these Dhams are closed every year. Meanwhile, the idol of Lord Shiva is installed in Ukhimath (Omkareshwar Temple) and is worshiped there. These are restored after the valve is opened. After the closure of the doors of Badrinath, his worship continues in the form of the huge 'Utsav Mooti' of Badrinath located in the Narasimha temple of Joshimath.
