According to latest reports, under Priority Corridor Malahi caught from Bhootnath Road Preparations for metro operation are going on war footing and trial runs are likely to start on this route soon.

Priority Corridor: What is the latest update?

Corridor-2 of Patna Metro (Patna Junction to New ISBT) connects the busiest areas of the city. In this, the portion from Bhootnath to Malahi Pakdi is elevated, the work on which is almost completed.

Track and Finishing: More than 95% of the track laying and finishing work at Bhootnath, Khemnichak and Malahi Pakdi stations has been completed.

Format of stations: The work of installation of escalators, lifts and passenger amenities at these stations is in the final stages.

Electricity and Signaling: The process of testing OHE (Overhead Equipment) and signaling system has been started.

Expected Timeline of Operation

According to Metro Administration (PMRC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials:

Trial Run: It is targeted to start the ‘trial run’ on this short stretch by mid-May 2026.

CRS Inspection: After the success of the trial, there will be inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).

Commercial Run: If everything goes according to plan, End of June 2026 or beginning of July Till now the general public will be able to travel on this route.

People of these areas will get direct benefits

With the start of metro between Bhootnath and Malahi Pakdi, thousands of people living around Kankarbagh and bypass will get relief from jam:

Malahi caught: From here it will be easy to reach the main areas of Kankarbagh.

Bhoothnath: Passengers will get great relief from the heavy traffic jam on the bypass road.

Khemnichak: This station is being developed as an interchange, which will connect Corridor-1 and Corridor-2 in future.

Highlights of Patna Metro

Rent: The minimum and maximum fares are expected to be fixed on the lines of Delhi and Lucknow Metro.

Smart Card: There will be a facility of ‘National Common Mobility Card’ (NCMC) for the passengers, through which they can also travel in the metro of other cities of the country.

Feeder Buses: Special parking zones have been created for electric feeder buses and e-rickshaws to reach home from stations.
