Kathmandu, July 10 (HS). Due to the changing political situation in Nepal, the foreign minister's visit to India has been cancelled. He was scheduled to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of BIMSTEC countries in New Delhi.
Nepal's Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying that Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha's visit to the Foreign Minister level meeting to be held in New Delhi, India from July 2 has been cancelled due to special reasons. The Foreign Minister's visit has been cancelled due to Nepal's Prachanda government falling into minority. Due to the change in power equations in Nepal, Prime Minister Prachanda's government has come into minority and is going to take a vote of confidence in the Parliament on July 3.
The statement of the Ministry of External Affairs said that Nepal will be represented by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal in the retreat meeting of foreign ministers. Sewa Lamsal has been informed to leave on Thursday morning to participate in this meeting. After this two-day meeting, the foreign ministers of all BIMSTEC countries will have a group meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
