World’s toughest test: There is peace everywhere in South Korea these days. Five lakh students across the country appeared in the most important examination of their lives. Considered to be one of the toughest exams in the world, this exam lasts for 8 hours. This university placement test is known as the Listening Test or College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).
Flying banned during exams
This examination was conducted in South Korea on Thursday. In view of this, the government there stopped the construction work and also banned the honking of vehicles. Not only this, the seriousness of this exam is so much for the people there that even flights were banned. Suneng test is conducted every year in the month of November. This exam lasts for 8 hours. It also includes 5 subjects – Korean, Mathematics, English, Korean History and Social Studies or Science.
Short break of 20 minutes between each paper
80 to 107 minutes are allotted for one subject. Also, a short break of 20 minutes and a lunch break of 50 minutes is given between each subject in the exam. After the lunch break, the English exam consists of a listening test, during which candidates have to write answers based on what they have heard. Therefore flights are also stopped on this day. Also, since this exam requires concentration, students are also advised not to eat junk food.
More than 10,000 police officers deployed for the exam
On the day of examination the entire country ensures that students do not get delayed in reaching the examination centre. The government and local traffic police work to reduce traffic. This time, more than 10,000 police officers were deployed for the exam, some of whom were tasked with escorting students to schools during the emergency.
Stock markets also open late during examination days.
More than a dozen additional trains were kept on standby in view of the exams. To reduce traffic, companies have also been instructed to start work later than the normal day. The stock market also opens late on this day.
Festive atmosphere at the centers after the end of the examination
This examination also determines the university placement, future job prospects and social status of the students, hence it is considered very important. After the completion of the examination, a festive atmosphere is being seen at the examination centres. A crowd gathers outside with music to celebrate the achievements of the students.
